Becoming a foster or adoption family can be very confusing and intimidating. Our founders experienced this when they were adopting their 6 kids. This is very common among new foster and adoptive parents but there are resources to help. We have collected important resources below to help answer common questions and give you more information about how to become a foster or adoptive family.

AdoptUSKids educates families about foster care and adoption and gives child welfare professionals information and support to help them improve their services. We also maintain the nation’s only federally funded photo listing service that connects waiting children with families.

While CHS is perhaps best known for our work related to foster care and adoption, we are much more than a placement agency. Through our parent and teen education programs and professional training, we promote healthy environments to thousands of families.

Family Room

When children come into foster care, they most often come with nothing but what they are wearing. The trauma they have experienced by quickly losing their homes, their families and their belongings should not be compounded by not having the basic needs they deserve.

Together with its sponsors and media partners, the organization focuses on raising awareness throughout communities about the struggles and misconceptions surrounding kids and teens in foster care, while connecting families with their local foster care agencies.
